Description
***This is an online Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) course.***

Restrictions:
This course is restricted to DoD Acquisition Workforce (DAW) government civilian and military students only.

CON 7220V, CFO Crash Course for Contracting Professionals, is a 3-day version of the very popular CON 7200V and captures many of the valuable elements of CON 7200V but offers them in a condensed fashion. The course consists of a mix of self-study e-learning pre-work, lectures/discussion facilitated by external faculty, and a business simulation that provides an experiential learning component to enhance the student's total experience. Both CON 7200V and CON 7220V culminate with a robust business simulation in which students take on the role of the Chief Financial Officer making decisions on various investment opportunities and using the results of the simulation to improve their performance in subsequent fiscal years.

The course provides valuable insight into how a CFO in a publicly traded defense contractor will think and act and helps students understand:
  • How industry measures and tracks financial performance
  • How industry is motivated by financial returns
  • How industry builds managerial incentives around financial returns and links company performance to individual performance and compensation
  • How government contracting affects industry returns
  • How the government can help to improve industry returns and cash flow without increasing the government’s purchase prices
Additionally, it provides sources where publicly available information (current and historic) can be found in support of these concepts and offers opportunities to practice the concepts taught in the course in a dynamic and interactive business simulation of a defense contractor engaged in continuous bidding for business opportunities with the DoD.
