DAU Fulfiment Program

DAU Fulfillment Program

The course fulfillment program provides a means for Defense Acquisition Workforce members to receive credit for select DAU courses for which the workforce member has demonstrated competency through an assessment of the workforce member’s previous work experience, education, training, or any combination thereof.

In accordance with DoD Instruction 5000.57, Defense Acquisition University (DAU), [Section 2.l] “Establishes and implements an Acquisition Workforce Fulfillment Program that provides criteria for determining whether an individual has demonstrated competence in the areas that are taught in the training courses required for their position…” and DoD Instruction 5000.66, Defense Acquisition Workforce Education, Training, Experience, and Career Development Program [Section 5.1.i.], the key attributes of DAU’s course fulfilment program is as follows:

  1. Fulfillment is only available to persons serving in Defense Acquisition workforce positions.

  2. Fulfillment is only available for certification courses.

  3. The DAU fulfillment program does not apply to Functional Area Exam Certification Requirements.

  4. DAU will publish certification course fulfillment guides in the DAU iCatalog.

  5. The authority to approve a Defense Acquisition workforce member's fulfillment request is delegated to the DoD agencies and components per DoD Instruction 5000.66 [Section 3.6.g]. Defense Acquisition Workforce members desiring to pursue this alternative method of completing required courses for their designated Functional Area Certification requirements must consult with their acquisition career management office for process and approval authority guidance.

  6. All approved fulfillments must be documented on a DD Form 2518, Fulfillment of DoD Mandatory Training Requirements. The approved form 2518 along with the supporting documentation must be maintained by the approving agency/component for as long as the workforce member remains in the agency/component’s Defense Acquisition workforce and twelve months (12) thereafter.

  7. It is the approving agency/component's responsibility to ensure approved fulfillments are documented in their employees' official records to include the Army Training Requirements Resource System (ATRRS). Approved fulfillments as well as equivalencies documented in ATRRS display on student’s official DAU transcript records available through Services at DAU.
