Description
Composites are advanced materials created by combining two or more distinct materials to achieve a superior combination of properties. These versatile materials play a crucial role in many DoD systems, including aircraft structures and armor plates. This Online Training (OLT) course provides foundational knowledge of composite materials, emphasizing their applications within the DoD. Whether you're new to composites or looking to enhance your existing expertise, this training will deepen your understanding of composite structures and their unique processes. While tailored to supplement on-the-job training for surveillance professionals, the course also highlights key concepts applicable across a variety of DoD systems.

What you will learn to enhance your ability to effectively surveil and support the critical composite products that ensure mission success across the DoD:
  • Safety Concerns: Key considerations for working with composites safely.
  • Overview of Composites: Basic principles, including composition and common applications.
  • Advantages and Disadvantages: Insight into the benefits and limitations of composite materials.
  • Composite Manufacturing: Overview of production processes and techniques.
  • Post-Processing: Steps involved in finalizing composite products.
  • Environmental Protection and Sealing: Methods for ensuring durability in challenging conditions.
  • Repairing Composites: Approaches to maintaining and restoring composite structures.
  • Surveillance of Composite Products: Best practices for monitoring and evaluating composite quality during production and use.
