This Virtual Instructor-Led (VILT) course emphasizes the unique characteristics software development affects the cost estimating process. It covers estimating the size of the software application; converting software size to development effort; estimating the schedule for completing the development effort; and maintaining the software throughout the operational phase. The course helps students develop reliable and credible software cost estimates using numerous hand-on application-based exercises designed to develop critical thinking skills as they pertain to the interrelationships of staffing, scheduling, software complexity, and technology.
