This workshop will provide the DOD acquisition workforce and community with foundational knowledge on the importance and requirement for an Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy. The tools and techniques to develop a strategy will also be explored.
This workshop is designed for specific program offices, and the workshop will culminate in an exercise that will assist the program in developing a unique program IP Strategy. This workshop assumes that attendees have a working understanding of Intellectual Property and Data Rights. WSM-022 is recommended as a pre-requisite for this workshop (although not required).

Objectives
|
Acquaint attendees with an understanding of what an IP strategy is along with advanced concepts of IP and Data Rights. Working with program specifics and members of the acquisition team, explore the fundamentals issues and techniques of developing an IP strategy. The critical performance behaviors include:
- Identify the program’s IP and Data Rights required for an acquisition
- Develop an IP Strategy as part of the Acquisition Strategy based on the above defined requirements
- Develop strategy for managing program specific IP issues and needs
