Description |
The Virtual Instructor-Led (VILT) Program Manager's Course (PMC) provides experiential and actionable learning that inspires and challenges DoD Program Managers to think critically, foster creativity, decide wisely and lead confidently in a complex, dynamic acquisition environment. It is designed to expand integration and leadership skills of personnel selected to serve in demanding program management positions within the DoD. PMC takes a multidimensional approach to developing key leaders by using case-based learning methods, simulations, tailored lessons, reflective learning, self-evaluation, and networking opportunities to provide attendees new insights and requisite abilities. During this 10.5-week virtual offering, you will:
- Improve your critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Enhance your ability to lead in an acquisition environment
- Develop a network of fellow practitioners to discover and apply best practices
- Incorporate reflection into your daily routine
A team of faculty and experts from diverse disciplines, provide in-depth knowledge in core areas including Leadership, Thinking, Capability Integration, Stakeholder Management, Industry Engagement, and Workforce Development. Class sessions capture the years of experience that both faculty and students bring to the room.

- NH-IV/O-5/O-6/Industry equivalent.
- Professionals in the program management functional area demonstrating the potential to become a major program or project manager. Must be a practitioner with a minimum of four years of experience in or directly supporting an acquisition program or Advanced in Program Management (formerly DAWIA Level III Program Management).
- In addition, each offering allows high-potential acquisition professionals certified at formerly DAWIA Level III or advanced tiers in any acquisition functional area and have demonstrated acquisition leadership potential.

Required Non-Training Prerequisites:
- A Professional in the program management functional area demonstrating the potential to become a major program or project manager.
- Candidate must be a Practitioner with a minimum of four years of experience in or directly supporting an acq program or Advanced in Program Management (formerly DAWIA Level III Program Management).
- Minimum Grade Level for Students: GS-14 or equivalent (Civilian); O-5 or selected for promotion to O-5 (Military)
- Other high-potential acquisition professionals certified at formerly DAWIA Level III or advanced tiers in any acquisition functional area and have demonstrated acquisition leadership potential.
Additional Notes:
- Class 25-954 is a wholly virtual class meeting synchronously between 2 Oct - 8 Nov and 2 - 13 Dec between the hours of 1000-1700 ET. The 3-weeks in between are asynchronous with 1 meeting with your Faculty Advisor. There are approximately 1.75-2 hours of Individual Preparation required each night for the following day's activities.
Industry participants with equivalent PM experience are encouraged to attend.

- This course in combination with PMT 4020 satisfies the statutory training required for program executive officers, deputy program executive officers, and program managers (PM)/deputy program managers (DPM) of ACAT I and II programs.
- A computer with an active video camera and microphone, and an OKTA provisioned DAU MS Teams for Education account are required to access course materials. Video camera and microphone are needed to participate in Media training activities.
- Virtual classes are conducted via MS Teams.
- All times are in the local time zone of the DAU region assigned to teach the offering.
- Students are required to test connectivity with DAU IT prior to the class start date.
- DAU does not reimburse student phone/internet charges.
- The CLPs assigned to this learning activity may be used to meet professional certification and/or licensure requirements (PDUs/CPE credits).
