Description
Welcome to Software Acquisition Pathway (SWP). This Online Training (OLT) micro-course provides an overview of the Software Acquisition Pathway (SWP). What is the SWP? The DoDI 5000.87 is the DoD Policy that describes the SWP and authorizes DoD Programs to use Agile-DevSecOps commercial best practices to achieve faster software development for our warfighters. The SWP provides an iterative and incremental (Agile) process for developing software within any DoD program. Why is it important to DoD? Without the SWP, DoD programs do not have a policy vehicle for applying the Agile mindset and principles to their software development efforts. How does a program acquire the SWP? Working through the Program’s Decision Authority (DA), the DA will document the decision and rationale for a program to use the software acquisition pathway in an Acquisition Decision Memorandum (ADM).
