The purpose of this continuous learning module is to help the Defense Acquisition Workforce to more effectively use the commercial acquisition procedures to help meet the acquisition goals as envisioned by the Secretary of Defense in the National Defense Strategy.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to apply the following critical behaviors on the job:
  • Recognize key aspects of determining if a supply or service meets the commercial item definition.
  • Identify how to take advantage of commercial marketplace capabilities through describing agency needs, conducting market research, and applying best practices when acquiring commercial items.
  • Identify procedures to determine if the price of a commercial item is fair and reasonable and recognize the importance of a performance assessment plan.
  • Objectives
    The goal of this module is to provide the acquisition workforce with an understanding of commercial item acquisitions that will help yield consistency in best practices across the Department of Defense.
