DAU facilitates a townhall discussion that focuses on the DFARS Clause 252.204-7012, Safeguarding Covered Defense Information (CDI) and Cyber Incident Reporting, which applies to all current Department of Defense contractors. This clause requires contractors/subcontractors to: (1) provide adequate security to safeguard covered defense information that resides on or is transiting through a contractors internal information system or network; (2) report cyber incidents that affect a covered contractor information system or the covered defense information residing therein, or that affect the contractor’s ability to perform requirements designated as operationally critical support; and (3) flow down the clause in subcontracts for operationally critical support, or for which subcontract performance will involve covered defense information.
  • Identify Controlled Technical Information (CTI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI); Identify contractor CDI level of protection based on threat; Understand contractor’s ability to meet CDI adequate security requirements; Judge contractor security control selection to meet CDI adequate security requirements; Understand contractor’s CDI incident response policy and plan.
    The Student will be able to:
  • Determine control effectiveness and make findings on controls for contractor protection of critical information
  • Evaluate control performance to determine support of DOD protection objectives and make findings on controls for contractor evaluation.
  • Evaluate security controls in the Contractor's operational environment to include across system of systems.
  • Appraise protection of information assets in terms of operational requirements and contractor objectives.
  • Justify control development and implementation to determine support of DOD protection objectives.
