Description
The DoD continues to strive to improve the quality and value of the capability delivered to the warfighter. The Cloud Services Workshop is designed to support Cross-Functional, In-tact Teams who are looking for assistance and guidance with understanding and developing operational plans for migration to a secure cloud environment. This workshop provides guidance to assist with identification of and planning for migration of systems and applications to a secure cloud environment.
This workshop is Cloud service provider agnostic (i.e., can be applied to any commercial or federally provided “Cloud” offering). The requesting agency will be actively engaged to tailor the workshop content in order to meet their needs and will be afforded the opportunity to consider follow-on consulting to further mature their transformation to the cloud.
Objectives
Critical Behaviors: Upon completion of this workshop, participants will possess the information required to execute the following critical performance behaviors:
  • Lead and manage your organization in “Cloud” migration planning and implementation through application of principles and practices addressed in this workshop
  • Engage with “Cloud” Service provider partners to accomplish Organizational/PMO goals
  • Implement “Cloud” Governance models for your organization

    Terminal Objective: Given a DoD Cloud computing migration opportunity, describe the requirements for developing and implementing a Cloud migration strategy.

    Enabling Objectives:
    Participants will be able to:
  • Describe how and why the cloud came into existence, and how it is impacting the world today and tomorrow
  • Formulate a rationale for a Business Case Analysis (BCA) and create an Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) estimate.
  • Describe Cloud Specific Security requirements and issues
  • List the documentation required for obtaining an Authority to Operate and the difference in requirements between an On-Premises and Cloud ATO
  • Describe basic Acquisition strategies for procurement of Cloud Services
  • Describe how to use varied “Cloud Pricing Models” and related tools
  • Describe Governance as it applies to “Cloud” environments
  • Describe the DoD strategic cloud initiatives and the JEDI procurement model
  • Describe terminology around advanced topics in cloud computing
  • Describe concepts for migrating to the cloud

  • Prerequisite(s)
    1. Students should complete CLE 075
    2. Organizations will be asked to answer the following at the beginning of the Workshop:
    a. Why is your organization looking to transition to a Cloud environment?
    b. What are your Challenges?
    c. What are your specific organizational Goals?
    d. What is the general knowledge level of the target audience?
    3. Specific pre-course work may be assigned for the workshop.
