Description
Upon completion of this credential, graduates will be able to apply Life Cycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP), Defense Working Capital Fund (DWCF), and Operations and Support (O&S) cost concepts to support the development of an O&S cost estimate. Learners will gain an understanding of how O&S costs are a vital component for all weapon systems. Operating and Support cost estimation is a skillset that goes beyond the general competencies cost estimation. O&S cost estimation is a critical set required for analysts or managers involved in sustainment requirements. The student will be given specific training necessary to produce an O&S cost estimate for a system or subsystem.

Target Attendees
Cost estimators and logisticians who are practitioners or experienced in their functional areas, but new to the concept of Operating and Support cost estimation. These acquisition professionals should have approximately 4 years or less of acquisition experience in cost estimating or logistics and serve a program office, PEO, Service/Defense agency level, or supporting a program that reports to a Service Acquisition Executive (SAE). Learners will also potentially be serving in a position that requires specific training relating to O&S cost estimating, e.g., cost estimators developing O&S estimates; financial managers building O&M budgets; logisticians in program management directorates determining the impact of RAM policies.

Additional Information:
  • Predecessor courses may not be used to complete credential requirements.
  • This credential requires the completion of a Virtual Instructor-Led Course (VILT): BCE 3160V. Priority for VILT courses goes to members of the Defense Acquisition Workforce. All others may find it difficult to complete this requirement if it has not already been completed at the time of enrollment in the credential.
