Description
Modern technology has resulted in an ever-increasing level of complexity in our systems and expanding networks of systems of systems. Did you know it takes the US on average 16 years to deliver an idea to operational capability versus fewer than seven years for China? We must find a way to deliver warfighter capabilities better and faster in order to ensure superiority and efficiently integrate new technologies into our systems. Digital acquisition is a powerful tool that we can use to tackle these challenges. You may have heard this referred to as digital engineering, digital acquisition, digital material management, or a number of other terms, but the concept is the same, and we will be using the term digital acquisition in this course. Digital acquisition is an integrated digital approach that uses authoritative sources of systems, data and models as a continuum across disciplines to support life cycle activities from concept through disposal.

This Online Training (OLT) course will define digital acquisition, explore how this concept applies to developing systems and set a baseline for terminology such as system model, digital thread, and authoritative source of truth. If you have experience with digital acquisition, you'll have the opportunity to test through the material prior to taking the course.
